WorldatWork Society Certification Maintenance Standards of Professional Practice

The standards of professional practices have been adopted to promote and maintain ethical conduct in the profession by adhering to the highest standards of professional practice.

Responsibility to the Public

  • Legal
    Comply with all laws and regulations that govern employment compensation, benefits, work-life and total rewards practices.
  • Advocacy
    Encourage employers/clients to enact compensation, benefits, work-life and total rewards programs that recognize individual rights, privileges, contributions and opportunities.
  • Designation(s) Use
    Respect and abide by regulations that govern the use of the CCP, CBP, GRP or WLCP designations, and immediately cease use of these designations when skills or certification are no longer professionally current.  

Responsibility to Colleagues

  • Respect
    Treat co-workers and other colleagues with respect and fairness, and advocate conditions of employment that safeguard their rights and welfare.
  • Collaboration and Encouragement
    Strive for excellence in the profession by not only maintaining and enhancing personal knowledge and skills, but by sharing information with colleagues, encouraging the professional development of co-workers and colleagues, and fostering the aspirations of co-workers and colleagues as potential members of the profession.
  • Integrity
    Practice the highest standards of integrity in business and professional dealings with other individuals in the field.

Responsibility to Employers/Clients

  • Integrity/Conflicts of Interest
    Perform professional services with honesty and integrity. These include fully informing employers/clients of areas of professional competence, limiting professional activities to those areas of practice in which individual is fully qualified and avoiding all conflicts of interest with professional responsibilities.
  • Objectivity
    Honestly and completely advise employers/clients on best practices regarding employment compensation, benefits, work-life and total rewards practices.
  • Due Diligence
    Discharge professional responsibilities with competence and diligence.
  • Confidentiality
    Maintain the confidentiality of employers'/clients' proprietary information.

  • Maintenance of Competence
    Maintain competence as practicing professionals in employment compensation, benefits, work-life and total rewards practices.
  • Professional Leadership
    Support educational endeavors and provide leadership in the fields of compensation, benefits, work-life and total rewards management.
